Take a look around-the world is beginning to fill with color again. The flowers are blooming, grass is growing, and the trees are starting to bud and bloom. This is the perfect time to appreciate the natural wonders that surround us. Around the world there are days dedicated specifically to celebrating trees. In the United States, National Arbor Day is always celebrated on the last Friday in April with tree planting ceremonies and education about the importance of trees. Throughout the world, there are holidays during which people plant trees, care for them, and learn their value. In Israel, this holiday is called the New Year of the Trees. Korea has Tree-Loving Week, Iceland has a Student’s Afforestation Day, and Yugoslavia holds an Arbor Day in the spring and an Afforestation Day in the fall. India celebrates a National Festival of Tree Planting. All of these celebrations, not only honor trees and what they give us, but also provide the opportunity to plant trees. The simple act of planting a tree represents a belief that, in the future, the tree will grow and, someday, will provide wildlife habitat, erosion control, shade, beauty, and inspiration for ourselves and for our children.

Natural Pod seeks to bring the inspiration and beauty of trees to the spaces we create. Our natural wood furniture provides a warmth and connection to nature that no other materials can offer. At our core, we believe that the trees, which offer so much, should be respected and cared for. Therefore, all Natural Pod products use Forest Stewardship Council certified (FSC® C012337-certified) wood and we employ FSC® C012337-certified manufacturing standards. The FSC® C012337’s mission is “to promote environmentally sound, socially beneficial and economically prosperous management of the world’s forests and to meet our current needs for forest products without compromising the health of the world’s forests for future generations.” Using FSC® C012337-certified products ensures that you can feel good about where a product comes from, who made it, and where it will go at the end of its long life. Furniture made from these types of forests provides healthy, beautiful, and inviting spaces that allow creativity and inspiration to flow.

J. Sterling Morton, the founder of Arbor Day in the U.S. believed that, “Each generation takes the earth as trustees. We ought to bequeath to posterity as many forests and orchards as we have exhausted and consumed.” So, in this time of planting and rebirth, take the time to get out and celebrate the trees and all they provide us every day.
