The Jasper Centre for Early Childhood Learning and Care: Meeting of the Waters Childcare Centre is nestled in the heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountains in the beautiful town of Jasper, Alberta. Under the administration of the Municipality of Jasper, the childcare centre is a non-profit, non-sectarian program that offers many programs for children from birth to age 12.
Due to space limitations, the centre recently underwent a renovation, which created an abundance of open space for the children to play in. Thus, it was a natural time to make a transformation of the current play spaces and learning environments. Furthermore, staff were eager to oer children a natural play space and work on the long-term goal of removing plastic toys that were so prominent in the centre from many years before.
“The old structure of our rooms didn’t really lend to a natural play environment, lots of plastic toys and bright paint were in the rooms and it was stimulation overload. It only would have happened with a lot of teacher intervention. We are happy to continue working with Natural Pod in order to continue improving our play space!” Lisa Daniel, Childcare Services Manager
