Project Profile: Salt Spring Island SD64 Learning Hub

When looking to renovate the former Salt Spring Island Middle School Annex into a new Learning Hub space, School District 64 on Salt Spring Island, B.C., Canada chose Natural Pod as a partner in their learning space transformation.

Building on previously completed projects within their district—such as the Fernwood Elementary School—the school district worked with Natural Pod to create a truly beautiful environment.

This inspiring space has become the welcome home to the district’s TASK program along with Learning Services, Tech Support, Early Learning, Salt Spring Elementary Music, and 64GO programs—the District’s Online Learning School.

With such a diverse set of learning needs, a primary goal of the renovations was to create an environment that was both flexible and collaborative to be enjoyed by everyone from early years to adults. Significant remodelling and upgrades were needed for both the interior and exterior of the building and a broad range of Natural Pod furniture offerings which support people across all age groups were used to realize the vision for the new space.

This new community learning environment used a combination of beautiful Natural Pod furniture pieces that included shelving, tables, desks, stand-up desks, and seating, along with existing furniture in the space—all designed with flexibility and collaboration in mind.
