Designing a learning environment means making decisions for children you haven’t met yet, at ages they haven’t reached, in a room that will be used in ways you can’t fully anticipate. That weight is real — and educators carry it every time they choose furniture.
One educator came to us with a quiet but specific need: she loved the shape of our Reach™ Table — its organic silhouette felt right for her learning space. She valued offering her learners a variety of seating, from Share™ Benches to Unity™ Stools, but also wanted the flexibility to include traditional chairs. For that, she needed them to slide completely underneath. The table’s arched leg design worked beautifully with benches and stools, but chairs were a different story.
That conversation unlocked something Allan Alomes, our Director of Design, had been quietly developing: a “universal leg” — one leg design that could pair with any Natural Pod tabletop, adapt to any age, and grow alongside the learners using it. A table that doesn’t ask educators to commit to a version of their space they haven’t inhabited yet.
“Think of a table where you don’t have to specify what age, what size, what seating, or how it’s going to be used right now,” Allan says. “It can be whatever you need it to be, support all needs, and grow with the children.”
That’s Sprig™, the One adjustable-height table that replaces Seven.
The decision educators shouldn't have to make
Furniture chosen for this year’s kindergarteners could be wrong for next year’s first graders — or for the student who joins mid-year with a different set of needs. Get it wrong and you’re either stuck or spending again.
The Sprig™ Table was designed to remove that pressure. Its leg design adjusts from 18 to 29 inches in one-inch increments. That range is wide enough to serve a Pre-K classroom today and a Grade 5 room five years from now, with the same table, in the same space. This level of flexibility paired with the long-term durability of Sprig can replace 7 different fixed height tables.
“Educators don’t have to stress about making a rigid decision right now,” Allan says. “It’s going to be whatever they need it to be as their environment grows.”
Designed for the reality of classrooms
The Sprig™ Table’s legs sit at a 45-degree rotation rather than the standard 90 degrees. That stance gives the table its character — grounded, organic, at home in a considered space. It also opens the clearance underneath so all seating options can slide fully in, which is exactly where this whole conversation started.
Assembly is straightforward: all four legs are identical, no variation or guesswork. The table’s height adjusts with two locking bolts per leg, and its robust design will stay completely solid through years of active use. The benefit for you? No wobbling classroom tables creating distractions in your learning environment.
Built on materials that belong in a classroom
Every Sprig™ Table is built from FSC®-certified hardwood — no added formaldehyde, low VOC finishes, and responsibly selected adhesives. We commit to a high standard of materials because children spend thousands of hours in these rooms. What they breathe in matters as much as what they learn.
A classroom table you can count on
The Sprig™ Table carries a lifetime warranty, but the more honest measure is this: it’s a table that adapts as enrollment shifts, as learners age up, as new members join the room with different needs. Educators shouldn’t have to predict the future to furnish it well. The Sprig™ was designed so they don’t have to.
